Useful points to note if you are thinking of donating an item to the Village collection

We are always very pleased when someone offers us an item but we are not always able to accept it, for a variety of reasons, so hopefully this will give you some guidelines before making the offer.

 

The purpose of the Village is to illustrate the lives of the early Pioneers in the Silverdale & Districts area and the objects they had in their homes and worked with.

• Does your item fit with this criteria ?

• Is your object in good condition ? this is secondary to the provenance of the item but may mean we cannot keep it or display it without deterioration

• Do we have one already ? very important to consider as our Collection is very full after been established for 50 plus years

• Do you have legal possession of the item and does your family agree to it being offered ? if accepted for our Collection the ownership will transfer to our Society. We do not take items on loan.

• Your item may not be displayed and only stored due to a lack of suitable place for it.

 

When making an offer to us please do not arrive at the Village with the item. The volunteers on duty will not be able to make the decisions required to accept or decline.

Please email (or bring) photographs of the item with as much detail and history as possible to the Village and we will then have all the information to make our decision.
