Many schools favour the Pioneer Village as a location for field trips where children can learn more about the past.

The Chapel can be hired for small weddings. It seats 60.
Our gardens have lots of photo opportunities to help to make your wedding photos memorable.

The Pioneer Village in Silverdale can help your teaching.
The Village has a number of exhibits of local history covering the area between the Okura and the Puhoi Rivers. These displays are arranged in a time trail in a number of buildings, including local houses of earlier times - 1840 to 1950.
Some rooms are set up as a typical bedroom, parlour or kitchen depicting different periods of the past. Other areas contain household objects of bygone days.
There are displays of local geology and ecology more suited for older students.
Talks about special topics can be arranged eg. Cooking utensils, Washday Blues, and Lighting through the ages.
Come and visit the Pioneer Village to see for yourself what is available and discuss your requirements with a committee member.
We are open from 10 am to 3 pm Saturday and Sunday. We are happy to open by arrangement at any time for school groups.
